Title: Companions on the Journey (avail. summer 2008, Alf
Composer: Brant Karrick
Publisher: unpublished
Year Composed: October 2006
Commissioned by the Xavier College Wind Ensemble, Victoria, Australia, for their December 2006 tour of America. Jo Heaton is the director of this fine high school age band.

The form of this grade 3 piece is ABA and consists of two main themes. The A theme is light in character with a quasi latin groove using a shaker, bongos, and claves. The middle section is based on the school's alma mater and weaves in motives of the first theme. The initial theme returns in a new key.

An mp3 of this and other Karrick pieces can be obtained directly from the composer.
